Problem
The actlog from Tivoli Storage Manager server or output from start Tivoli Storage Manager storage agent in the foreground shows ANR8208W messages.
Symptom
ANR8208W TCP/IP driver unable to initialize due to error in using Port 24201, reason code 10048.
Cause
The return code 10048 is a Windows return codes that states:
Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted.
The error ANR8208W states that the TCPport specified is already used by another application.
Resolving The Problem
The error can be corrected by changing the TCPport by the Tivoli Storage Manager application. To see which ports are already utilized, issue the following from a Windows DOS prompt:
Netstat –a
Choose a port that is not listed in the output and update the Tivoli Storage Manager application as follows:
Tivoli Storage Manager Server
In the dsmserv.opt file edit the TCPport to include the new port number
For all Tivoli Storage Manager clients associated with this server the options file (dsm.opt) must be edited to reflect the new TCPport value.
Tivoli Storage Manager Storage agent:
- In the dsmsta.opt file edit the TCPport to include the new port number
- On the Tivoli Storage Manager server that the storage agent connects to update the server as follows:
Update server <storageAgentName> lladdress=<Newport> forces=yes
Note: If the storage agent connects to a library client, the update server command MUST be run on both the library client and library manager Tivoli Storage Manager servers.
