What replacement products are available?

The following replacement products are available. Review the migration paths for restrictions on migrating queue managers to later releases before upgrading.

• For WebSphere MQ 6.0.x:
  • IBM MQ 9.3.x
  • IBM MQ 9.2.x
  • IBM MQ 9.1.x, the last release to support Solaris on SPARC
  • There is no replacement for HP-UX on Itanium or HP-UX on PA-RISC
  • The 64-bit replacements for Linux on x86 (32-bit), Linux on zSeries (31-bit), and Windows on x86 (32-bit) can support 31- and 32-bit applications, variously
  • The little-endian replacement for Linux on POWER (big-endian) requires applications to be recompiled
• For WebSphere MQ for HP OpenVMS 6.0.x:
  • There is no replacement for HP OpenVMS on Alpha or HP OpenVMS on Itanium
• For WebSphere MQ for z/OS 6.0.x:
  • IBM MQ for z/OS 9.3.x, IBM MQ Advanced for z/OS 9.3.x, IBM MQ for z/OS Value Unit Edition 9.3.x, and IBM MQ Advanced for z/OS Value Unit Edition 9.3.x
  • IBM MQ for z/OS 9.2.x, IBM MQ Advanced for z/OS 9.2.x, IBM MQ for z/OS Value Unit Edition 9.2.x, and IBM MQ Advanced for z/OS Value Unit Edition 9.2.x
  • IBM MQ for z/OS 9.1.x, IBM MQ Advanced for z/OS 9.1.x, IBM MQ for z/OS Value Unit Edition 9.1.x, IBM MQ Advanced for z/OS Value Unit Edition 9.1.x, IBM MQ Managed File Transfer for z/OS 9.1.x, and IBM MQ Advanced Message Security for z/OS 9.1.x

How do I check which version I am currently running?

On platforms other than i5/OS, OS/400 and z/OS, run dspmqver, and if that is not found run mqver. If neither command is found, use the operating system commands and utilities to display installed software levels.

On i5/OS and OS/400 run DSPMQMVER, and if that is not found run CALL PGM(QMQM/MQVER). If neither command is found, use GO LICPGM option 10 and press PF11 to view the versions of the installed programs.

On z/OS, look for message CSQY000I in the MSTR job log to determine your version.

To display the WebSphere MQ Extended Security Edition version, run: dspmqsver

Is any information available to help me upgrade to a later version?

The IBM Documentation for IBM MQ includes information to assist you in migrating to a supported version of IBM MQ:

• Maintaining and migrating IBM MQ 9.2.x
• Maintaining and migrating IBM MQ 9.1.x

Existing WebSphere MQ 6.0.x queue managers cannot be upgraded directly to the latest IBM MQ version. You must save your queue manager object definitions and their security settings, then manually move existing messages elsewhere or discard them. Install a supported version of IBM MQ, re-create the queue managers, object definitions and security settings, and then move back any messages you relocated.

Can I purchase a support extension for my current version?

Support extensions are no longer available. For more information, contact your local IBM sales representative.

Yes. The WebSphere MQ 6.0.x clients went out of support at the same time as the WebSphere MQ server on each platform.
