Problem

The Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail ( Exchange ) backups fails with following error: "The type initializer for 'Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Directory.Globals' threw an exception., ACN5055E The Microsoft Exchange API could not be loaded."

Symptom

Following error will be seen when the Tivoli Storage Manager for Mail ( Exchange ) tries to communicate with the Exchange server :

Cannot load Windows PowerShell snap-in Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.E2010 because of the following error: The type initializer for 'Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Directory.Globals' threw an exception., ACN5055E The Microsoft Exchange API could not be loaded.

Resolving The Problem

Make sure that you have the latest version of the following products:

  • Windows PowerShell
  • Microsoft .NET Framework
