RHEL3 logs SCSI error messages after updating IBM ServeRAID 8i, 8k, 8k-l, 8s controller with device driver v1.1.5-2449 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, any update.

Workaround

When using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, any update running on IBM ServeRAID 8i, 8k, 8k-l, 8s controller must use an older device driver, Version 1.1.5-2434 (ServeRAID 8.40).

IBM ServeRAID 8i, 8k, 8k-l, 8s controller driver Version 1.1.5-2449 (ServeRAID 9.00) has been built to work with Linux kernels 2.6x.x, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, any update. This device driver is not backwards compatible with older kernels because of changes in how Device File System Support (Devfs) is handled.

IBM ServeRAID 8i, 8k, 8k-l, 8s controller driver Version 1.1.5-2434 (ServeRAID 8.40) has been built to work with Linux kernels 2.4x.x, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, any update.
