Symptom

No sound when running Wave Interactive Test under PC doctor in Microsoft Windows XP.

Affected configuration

The system may be any of the following IBM IntelliStations:  

  • an IntelliStation M Pro, type 6225/6228, any model.  

The system is configured with version 1.6.002 of PC Doctor for Windows Diagnostics.  

The system's PC Doctor for Windows diagnostics fail.  

The system is configured with Audio driver 5.12.01.4060.exe utility.  

Hardware Specific Problem occurs with 5.12.01.4060.exe driver only.  

The audio Device Driver for the ADI is affected.  

Solution

Audio driver 5.12.01.4060_ich5_ich6.zip contains the fix.

Additional information

In comparing the XP Preload to XP shrink wrap, it was discovered that Window's Media Player also Fails to play with MIDI file types. After drilling down the following Window's Media Player menus, it was determined that the "SoundMax Wavetable Synt" did not work. When switching Window's Media Player to "Microsoft GS Wavetable SW synt" MIDI files were able to be played.
