Symptoms

The UnitedLinux installation stops with the following message when a USB floppy drive is not attached to a BladeCenter T chassis:

Could not find the UnitedLinux installation CD.

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following IBM BladeCenters:

  • a BladeCenter T, type 8730, any model
  • a BladeCenter T, type 8720, any model

The following operating system is affected:

  • UnitedLinux version 1.0 with Service Pack 3
Workaround

You must attach an external USB floppy to the BladeCenter T chassis in order to install UnitedLinux.

Additional information

Activating manual setup program:

  1. Insert the UnitedLinux SP3 CD.
  2. Boot a blade
  3. Press Enter at the boot screen.

There is no fix; this is an issue with the UnitedLinux operating system.

A USB floppy drive is shipped with a BladeCenter T chassis.
