Symptom
Unable to mount CD error - unable to install SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 8 (SLES8) for x86 with Service Pack 2a (SP2a) via CD-RW drive.
When installing with service pack 2a, during the package copying, the installer asks for SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 8 (SLES8) CD1, Unitedlinux CD1, Unitedlinux CD2, and then Service Pack 2a. Once inserting the SP2a CD and clicking OK, you get an unable to mount CD error.
Affected configurations
- The following NOS is affected: SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 8.0

Solution
This issue is corrected in Service Pack 3, available from SUSE's web site: http://www.suse.com/us/business/products/server/sles/
Workaround
- When the error occurs, press Alt+Ctrl+F2
- At command prompt, type 'lsmod'. (You should see either ide-cd or ide-cdrom loaded)
- Remove that module by typing 'rmmod ide-cd' or 'rmmod ide-cdrom'
- Load the ide-scsi module by typing 'modprobe ide-scsi'
- Press Alt+F7 and resume the installation as normal.
