- Two minor changes that are activated in very rare situations when the drive cannot read the system area on the tape. When the drive encounters this situation, it will eject the tape and light the Clean LED.
- These minor changes are workarounds to address situations when the Read Channel decoder hasn't started up in time due to clock (PLL) synchronization issue. When this happens the drive issues a write/read error but is generally recoverable when the user retries. The firmware basically resets and retries the write/read as a workaround.
- This change helps reduce repositioning in the IBM Data logging test thereby minimizing tape stress. It has a minor benefit to Wintel backups as most customers stream data.
- This change optimises the tension for DDS4 media. Without this change error rate is slightly higher in DDS4 mode but the drive is still usable in this mode.
- This helps reduce repositioning in IBM's test thereby minimizing tape stress; especially in slow host simulation tests.
- This change corrects a possible stuck tape scenario. When a snapped tape is in a drive during power up the drive will hang and not respond.
- This is an extremely rare case of misreading a data block in IBM IDE testing. This issue is highly unlikely for standard ISV software as a lot of READ_POSITION host commands interspersed between the reads are needed to trigger this issue in previous codes.
- If a drive is left idle for 17.4 days with a cartridge loaded, the drive will hang and the cartridge cannot be ejected without a power cycle.
- This corner case issue can cause a timeout if the drive is busy and ABORT or RESET events occur.
- DAT160 drive not reporting the correct density following a drive reset.
- Missing FM when reading.

- This is the initial release of the IBM DDS Gen 6 WU02 firmware, so there are no changes.
