Abstract

Procedures for removing the fan assembly on the xSeries 306 server.

To remove the fan

  1. Remove the cover:
    1. Turn off the server and all attached peripheral devices.
    2. Disconnect all power cords and all external signal cables.
    3. Loosen the captive screw on the rear of the server, then slide the cover to the rear and lift it off.
  2. Remove the fan:
    1. Disconnect the selected fan power cable from the system board.
    2. Grasp the fan and lift it out of the server.
    3. Remove the other fans using the same procedure.
