02013: Shipper Weight Calculation : Based on 09255 : SKU-PC View Weight setup

Troubleshooting

Problem

02013: Shipper Weight Calculation : Based on 09255 : SKU-PC View Weight setup

Symptom

PART: Outbound 6.0 SP2 DCS

How and when is the shipper weight calculated in 02013 (from PICK_TICKET)?

Cause

Resolving The Problem

At time of shipper Creation, there is no knowledge as to how this actual Inventory will be picked, hence DCS uses either PACK_WEIGHT or FC_CARTON_WEIGHT based on flag "Use Pack Dimension" in SKU Setup.
The Shipper / Cartons weight gets re-computed at the time of Wave / Shipper release correctly based on how it does the "Pick Location Allocation ( PLA )" for that shipper's item inventory.

EXAMPLE:

AFTER SHIPPER CREATION:
Here created 2 shippers 00002371 / 72 ( in DCS 60 SP2 TECH1 environment )
Pack Qty : 1, Pack Weight : 2
FC Qty : 10, FC Weight 10 ( Less than 20 ( 10 * 2 )

"Use Pack Dimension = "N"
Formula : ( Item_Qty * ( FC_CARTON_WEIGHT / FC_CARTON_UNITS ))
Shipper 00002371 ==> Shipper Weight ==> 15.00 ( 15 * ( 10 / 10))

"Use Pack Dimension = "Y"
Formula : ( Item_Qty * ( PACK_WEIGHT / PACK_QTY ))
Shipper 00002372 ==> Shipper Weight ==> 30.00 ( 15 * ( 2 / 1))

AFTER WAVE RELEASE
Both Shippers PLA was
Carton 001 : Weight 11.00 ==> 1 FC Carton ( 10 + 1 Media Weight )
Carton 002 : Weight 11.00 ==> One Loose Carton ( 5 * Pack Weight + 1 in Media Weight )

Results were same with various settings of "Use Pack Dimension".
