Adding a remote host

You can add a remote host with the ruser command, or SMIT.

  • Your system must be configured to communicate as a remote print server.
  • The lpd daemon must be installed on your system.
  • To add a remote host, you must understand naming conventions for TCP/IP.
The information in this how-to scenario was tested by using specific versions of AIX®. The results that you obtain might vary significantly depending on your version and level of AIX.

ruser -a -p HostName
