Go to the IBM Fix Central website for the most current information about fixes and updates for your system's software, hardware, and operating system.

Required software for Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems

IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition requires that the following software is installed on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system.
  • The most current fix pack for IBM Spectrum Scale 4.2.2, or 4.2.3.
Note: IBM Spectrum Scale version 4.2.3 requires a patch to the installation toolkit when IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition is installed.
  • The following operating system software:
    • attr
    • Boost.Filesystem (boost-filesystem)
    • Boost.Thread (boost-thread)
    • FUSE
    • fuse
    • fuse-libs
    • lsof
    • Java virtual machine (JVM)
    • libxml2
    • libuuid
    • libicu
    • nss-softokn-freebl
    • openssl
    • Python 2.4 or later, but earlier than 3.0
    • rpcbind
    • gperftools-libs (See "Note 1" below.)
    • The following software is also required to use the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) to monitor the system:
      • net-snmp
  • An IBM tape device driver for Linux (lin_tape). Download the most current IBM device driver from the IBM Fix Central website.
  • If one is provided by the HBA manufacturer, an HBA device driver for the host bus adapter that is used to connect to the tape library and attach to tape drives.
Note 1: The gperftools-libs software is not included in the RHEL 7.1 installation package. RHEL 7.1 users need to install the gperftools-libs software, and its prerequisite libunwind software, from the update repository. Or, users can upgrade to RHEL 7.2, or subsequent releases, which contain the required gperftools-libs and libunwind software, plus other enhancements and fixes.

Required software to support the REST API service on RHEL systems

The optional REST API service for Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition supports RHEL systems. Some of the software that is required for the REST API support is already installed as part of the IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition installation. The following additional software for the REST API support must be installed on the RHEL system:

The REST API must be installed on one of the IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition nodes.

Required software to support a dashboard for IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition

IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition supports a dashboard to monitor system performance, statistics, and configuration. The software to support the following functions must be acquired from the respective product support sites.
  • Logstash, to collect data.
  • Elasticsearch, to store the data.
  • Grafana, to visualize data.

For more information about the dashboard support, see Dashboard support for IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition.

Required software for SwiftHLM

IBM Spectrum Archive Enterprise Edition can use SwiftHLM functions for proper integration with Swift. The Swift High Latency Media (HLM) project can create a high-latency storage back end that makes it easier for users to perform bulk operations of data tiering within a Swift data ring.

SwiftHLM version 0.2.1 is required for the optional use of SwiftHLM. For more information, see Implementing OpenStack SwiftHLM with IBM Spectrum Archive EE or IBM Spectrum Protect for Space Management.
