Invoking the command-line interface

You can start the command-line interface in interactive or batch mode from your local computer to perform administrative tasks on a remote system.

Before you begin

You should have already downloaded the command-line interface tool from the PureApplication® Software and installed it on your local computer. For more information, see the Related tasks.

About this task

The command-line interface tool is invoked on your local computer. You can run the tool in either interactive mode or in batch mode, specifying the host name or IP address for PureApplication Software, along with an authorized user ID and password to start a user session.

A command-line interface session uses the timeout value specified on the system. When a user session expires, you are prompted to enter your user ID and password again. If the DEPLOYER_REAUTHENTICATE environment variable is set, a new session is automatically started for you when an existing session expires.

For information about how to get help for any command, attribute, or method on the command-line interface, see the Related tasks section. A set of sample scripts that demonstrate some of the command-line interface function are in the pure.cli\samples directory.
