Installing BIRT tools

Install BIRT reporting tools into your Eclipse client so that you can create or modify report template design files.

Before you begin

Details about BIRT prerequisites and version compatibility are available in the BIRT section of the Eclipse website.

Start the Eclipse client.
Click Help > Install New Software.
In the Available Software page, click Available Software Sites:
In the Available Software Sites page, click Add. In the Name field, type a name for the site, and in the URL field, type the URL for that is appropriate for you eclipse version. See:
- Eclipse v 4.2.x, use this URL in the Install New Software feature: Eclipse download page for the Juno release
- Eclipse v. 4.4.x, use this URL in the Install New Software feature: Eclipse download page for the Luna release
In the Available Software Sites page, in the drop-down, select the site that you just added:
From the list of features available to install, select Business Intelligence, Reporting and Charting.

Click Next, click Next again, accept the licences, and click Finish.
Click Open Perspective, and then click Report Design.

You can now design your own report templates or modify existing templates by using BIRT.
