WebSphere
eXtreme Scale Liberty Deployment
You can now set up and deploy the Liberty-based caching features of IBM® WebSphere® eXtreme Scale with a graphical user interface called IBM eXtreme Scale Liberty Deployment (XSLD ).
Overview
The WebSphere eXtreme Scale Liberty Deployment provides Liberty caching servers, caching operation tools, an administration console, and the out-of-the-box REST administration services based on the latest industry standards and specifications. XSLD is built based on the core eXtreme Scale technology.
Installing XSLD / Creating a cache member group
Using IBM Installation Manager, connect to the Passport Advantage® online website. By setting preferences for Passport Advantage in Installation Manager for the Rational Software Delivery Platform, you can connect to the repository and use IM to install the WebSphere eXtreme Scale Liberty Deployment Version 8.6.1.0 or later product offering.

Tutorial: Creating a data grid and running cache operations
The tutorial shows you how to create your first cache member group and a simple data grid with the XSLD admin console.
Tutorial: Increasing capacity and setting up replication
The tutorial builds upon the first tutorial and will show you how to increase the cache capacity of the data grid and how to setup replication between two members.
Admin and Operational REST APIs
XSLD supports the Representational State Transfer (REST) gateway to access simple data grids that are hosted by a cache member group.
Running xscmd commands with the REST API
Use the REST API to run xscmd commands remotely, without needing access to the xscmd program utility or accessing the XSLD machine.
Administering
Administering and operating the XSLD caching environment includes creating LDAP users, starting and stopping servers, setting up email, and password administration.
Troubleshooting
Use system logging to troubleshoot XSLD .
Security
XSLD can secure the eXtreme Scale client and a cache member group. After creating a keystore and a truststore, you can enable TLS (Transport Layer Security) for a cache member group. You can also enable credential authentication.
Advanced configuration
Liberty features enable you to configure eXtreme Scale servers and client for advanced caching functionality.
Liberty configuration elements
The application server and client configuration is described in a series of elements in the server.xml configuration file. Each element has one or more attributes or sub-elements. This topic contains details of the possible elements, attributes, and sub-elements that can be configured.
