As a workflow administrator, you must perform a variety of tasks to maintain the workflow system.

Optimizing the workflow subsystem
You can optimize the efficiency of the workflow subsystem for processing and analyzing workflows.
Managing isolated regions
An isolated region is a logical subdivision of the workflow system. Isolated regions are often used to separate development, testing, and production environments such that developers and testers can share computing resources while still keeping their disparate activities isolated. An isolated region consists of queues, rosters, and event logs.
Setting performance parameters
The performance parameters maximize performance by controlling workstation access to the server and balancing the optimization of workstation and server performance.
Configuring custom processors
You define step processors and launch processors that are used in workflow definitions. A step processor is used to complete a step in a workflow. A launch processor is designed specifically to launch a workflow.
Java step processor examples
The Content Platform Engine installation includes a sample Java™ step processor and launch processor. The processors must be configured to make them available to the workflow author.
Reconfiguring the base documentation URL for Process Simulator
If you change the documentation server URL, you must manually update the base documentation URL in the Process Simulator property file.
Configuring the CCEPOWSBroker servlet
The P8BPMWSBroker servlet, which serves as a proxy, uses the value of CCEPOWSBrokerServletURL to forward web service requests to the CCEPOWSBroker servlet. Requests and responses are handled by the CCEPOWSBroker servlet on the FileNet® P8 server.
Workflow user cache performance optimization
You can optimize the performance of the workflow user cache by configuring the timeout property and setting the refresh interval.
Workflow system database table row size
Some databases have a maximum byte limit for the row length in a table. Because each exposed field that you create becomes a table column, you can exceed the row size limitation and receive an error when adding more exposed fields to a queue, roster, or log.
DateTime masks
A date/time mask is a string expression containing any valid combination of components and, optionally, separators. For example, in the date/time mask yy/mm/dd, the separator character is a /, and the components are yy, mm, and dd. You can specify components in any order. CCEPOWSBroker servlet parameters
The CCEPOWSBroker servlet handles the RECEIVE and GET requests from a web service WSDL or UDDI.
Workflow system advanced properties
Advanced properties enable you to fine-tune your workflow system. Usually, you will add an advanced property only when instructed by IBM® Software Support. Advanced properties are added on either the workflow system or the server level.
