Deleting a domain

You can delete a FileNet® P8 domain and optionally create a domain to replace the one that you deleted.

About this task

Important: Deleting a domain is an irreversible operation.

Procedure

To delete a FileNet P8 domain:

  1. Determine the database or table space that is used by the domain's global configuration database. For more information, see Determining the location of the global configuration database
  2. Delete all object stores for the domain. For more information, see Deleting an object store.
  3. Close or log out of any tools that access this domain:
    • Log out of all Administration Console for Content Platform Engine sessions.
    • Close FileNet Deployment Manager.
  4. Stop the application server on which Content Platform Engine runs. For example, stop WebSphere® Application Server if Content Platform Engine runs on that server.
  5. Open the appropriate tool for your database vendor to access the database or table space. For example, you might open All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server > Enterprise Manager from the Microsoft Windows start menu.
  6. In the database provider tool, find the database or table space for the global configuration database.
  7. In the database or table space for the global configuration database, drop the tables with names that begin with FNGCD.
  8. Start the application server.
