Working with service classes

Once you have defined your workloads and resource groups, you can define your service classes. Choose the Service Class option on the definition menu. Figure 1 shows a Create a Service Class panel. You must assign a workload to the service class in the Workload field.

Use the Cpu Critical field to specify CPU protection for critical regions and use the I/O Priority Group field to specify HIGH for I/O-sensitive work.

Important: The use of these options limits WLM's ability to manage the system. This may affect system performance and/or reduce the system's overall throughput.
