Add multiple users in Planning Analytics Workspace(Local only)
To add multiple users to IBM® Planning Analytics Workspace Local, you upload a list of users with a .csv file.
Before you begin
About this task
Settings for the ENABLE_USER_IMPORT configuration parameter affect when a user can log in to Planning Analytics Workspace Local.
For more information, see Planning Analytics Workspace configuration parameters.
Add users in Planning Analytics Workspace
Procedure
- Create a .csv file that contains the users that you want to
upload. Tip: If you use Microsoft Excel to create the .csv file, and the file includes user names with special characters (such as diacritics), you must explicitly set the character encoding to 65001: Unicode (UTF-8). For more information, see How to open UTF-8 CSV file in Excel without mis-conversion of characters.
The .csv file can have a header row. If you use a header row, you can order the user information however you want as long as the names of the columns match the supported names. For example:
Login ID, First Name, Last Name, Email, Status Planning Analytics/Mary Smith,Mary,Smith,msmith@ca.ibm.com, Active Planning Analytics/Robert Smith,Robert,Smith,roberts@ca.ibm.com, Inactive Planning Analytics/Kevin Alexander,Kevin,Alexander,kalex@ca.ibm.com, Active
The .csv file must contain one line for each user with the following information: Login ID, First Name, Last Name, Role, Email, Status.
Login ID, First Name, Last Name, and Status are required. Role and Email are optional.
If you omit Role, it defaults to Analyst. For information about roles, see User roles.
If you omit Email, it defaults to Login ID. If the Login ID is not a valid email address, the user will be added with a state of Not invited yet and cannot log in to Planning Analytics Workspace Local.
Status can be Active or Inavtive.A user that has a status of Inactive can't log in to Planning Analytics Workspace Local until you activate them.
Text values in the .csv file such as role and status must be in English.
If the .csv file does not have a header row, use commas to ensure that the information is in this order: Login ID, First Name, Last Name, Role, Email, Status. For example:
Planning Analytics/Mary Smith,Mary,Smith,,msmith@ca.ibm.com,Active Planning Analytics/Robert Smith,Robert,Smith,,roberts@ca.ibm.com,Inactive Planning Analytics/Kevin Alexander,Kevin,Alexander,Administrator,kalex@ca.ibm.com,Active
The first two entries do not specify a Role, so there is an empty string following Last Name.
- On the Welcome page, click the
Administration tile.
If you don't see the Administer option, then you are not logged in as administrator and you cannot add users in Planning Analytics Workspace Local.
- Click the Users & Groups tab.
- Click the Users tab.
- Click Upload users from a .csv file .
- Drag the .csv file onto the Drop your .csv file
here region , or browse to the file location and import the file. The file is uploaded and you see a success message.
- Click OK. The users appear under the Users tab with the status that you specified in your .csv file.
