Identifying IBM Cloud Paks
Some Catalog entries are IBM Cloud Paks. IBM Cloud Paks meet specific criteria for packaging and deployment of containerized software. They are built with open standards, and are integrated with platform services for management and lifecycle operations. An IBM Cloud Pak is more than a simple Helm chart. IBM Cloud Paks accelerate time to value and improve enterprise readiness at lower cost than containers alone.
IBM Cloud Paks are identified in the Catalog by one of two badges with the entry. An entry with an IBM Cloud Pak badge meets the criteria for that badge. An entry that displays a Certified IBM Cloud Pak badge indicates that it meets the requirements of the Certified IBM Cloud Pak badge, which are more stringent than what is required for the IBM Cloud Pak badge.
IBM Cloud Paks can be created by IBM or 3rd party software solutions that are offered by IBM Partners. See IBM Support to learn how IBM supports containers.
IBM Cloud Pak badge:
IBM Cloud Paks meet standard criteria for packaging and deployment of containerized software with platform integrations. The IBM Cloud Pak badge () meets the following criteria:
Secured:
- Manages container image vulnerabilities
- Follows a least privilege policy, documents privileges required
- Comes from a well known and trusted source (Included in the ImagePolicy)
Integrated:
- Deploys easily through catalog integration
- Reports usage through metering integration
- Verifies compatibility through test integration
- Provides support from cloud platform, platform services and software (for products with commercial licenses with support and subscription)
Lifecycle managed:
- Follows industry standard version management
- Maintains currency with platform versions
Certified IBM Cloud Pak badge:
Some IBM Cloud Paks are Certified to meet additional requirements for Enterprise-grade containerized software solutions. The Certified IBM Cloud Pak badge () meets the following additional criteria:
Enhanced secure criteria:
- Supports secure access considerations (ingress)
- Allows for control of sensitive data
Further integrated:
- Accelerates a client to a production topology through out-of-box integrations with additional management services
- Provides simple lifecycle operations for upgrade and rollback through integration with the platform experience, which are consistent across IBM Cloud Paks
Enhanced workload availability criteria:
- Contains a production-grade topology that was written by the product experts
- Supports Kubernetes or custom application self healing and automatic failover
- Provides resiliency and scaling
