Correcting an Incomplete state for a managed system

The Incomplete state can occur when the HMC failed to get all of the necessary information from the managed system.

To correct an Incomplete state, perform the following steps:

  1. From the navigation area, select Servers.
  2. From the contents area, select the managed system.
  3. Select Tasks > Operations> Rebuild Managed System.
  4. Choose from the following options:
    • If the state remains as Incomplete, rebuild the managed system several more times.
    • If the state goes to Recovery, see Correcting a Recovery state for a managed system.
    • If the state does not remain as Incomplete or go to Recovery, continue with the next step.
  5. Reset the connection from the HMC. See Resetting the managed system connection from the HMC. If the connection still fails, continue with the next step.
  6. Restart the HMC. Then choose from the following options (This next step might take several minutes to complete):
    • If the state goes to Recovery, see Correcting a Recovery state for a managed system.
    • If the state remains Incomplete, perform the following steps:
      1. Verify that there is a redundant HMC.
      2. Verify that no one is entering commands from the alternate HMC.
      3. Repeat step 1 through 6. If the connection still fails, continue with the next step.
  7. If the problem persists, contact your next level of support or your hardware service provider.
