The system
provides Copy Services functions that can be used to improve availability and support disaster
recovery. Some system models can require a separate license
to use these functions. Verify your licensing requirement before using these
functions.
- IBM®
FlashCopy® function
- Makes an
instant, point-in-time copy from a source volume to a target volume.
- Remote copy function
- Provides data replication between a master volume and secondary or auxiliary volumes within a
single system or between multiple-systems for the purpose of data resiliency, migration,
high-availability, and disaster recovery. The system supports several remote-copy related objects
that help design and manage these different use cases. Some system models require a Remote Mirroring
license before you can create these objects. These objects include partnerships, consistency groups,
and independent relationships.
- HyperSwap® function
- The IBM
HyperSwap function is a high
availability feature that provides dual-site access to a volume.HyperSwap functions are available on
systems that can support more than one I/O
group.
