The plan you choose for Watson Knowledge Catalog affects the features and capabilities that you can use.

Watson Knowledge Catalog on prem provides these plans:

• Lite: Use this free plan to try one catalog, which shares assets with Information Governance Catalog. You cannot create data protection policies.
• Professional: Use this plan when you’re ready to deploy multiple catalogs and data protection policy enforcement throughout your enterprise.

Both Watson Knowledge Catalog plans have these features:

• Indexing and storage for data assets.
• AI powered search and recommendations.
• Rating and reviewing assets.
• The base set of connectors to data sources.
• Profiling of textual data in relational (first 5000 rows only).
• Data Refinery tool to shape and cleanse data assets in projects.

The Watson Knowledge Catalog Professional plan also includes these features:

• Create an unlimited number of catalogs. Only the first catalog shares assets with Information Governance Catalog.
• Additional connections to data sources. Professional plan adds the Dropbox, Tableau Online, and Looker connectors.
• Create data protection policies that contain rules to control access to data.
• Policy usage statistics to monitor data protection policy activity.
• View lineage to see the history of the events performed on the asset.
