Enabling a transaction log in the Rational DOORS client

You can use a DXL script to enable logging and record transaction activity during a session in the IBM® Rational® DOORS® client.

Before you begin

If DXL security is enabled, you must be a user with permission to edit and run DXL. See Setting up DXL security.

1. Log in to Rational DOORS.
2. Click Help > Edit DXL.
3. Type the following code in the DXL input field. You can substitute a log file name and location of your choice.

   string logfileLocation = "c:\\temp\\doorsclientlog.txt" 
   int logLevel = 6 
   startLogging_(logfileLocation, logLevel)

4. Click Run.
5. Do the operation in the client that you want to debug.
6. To stop logging, close the Rational DOORS client or turn off logging during your session by typing this DXL command:

   
    stopLogging_()
   

7. If you need help debugging the operation, compress the doorsclientlog.txt log file and send it to Support.
