The Windows® SharePoint Services connector enables Content Integrator to connect to and access content from a Windows SharePoint Services system.
Windows SharePoint Services has the following limitations:
An out of memory error might occur when you are retrieving large documents.
The Windows SharePoint Services connector includes the following group requirements:
Each SharePoint document library is considered an item class that is assigned to each document in that document library. In the folder hierarchy view in content integration server, document libraries display as top-level folders.
Similarly, each SharePoint list is considered an item class that is assigned to each item in that list and lists display as top-level folders in the folder hierarchy view.
The Windows SharePoint Services connector supports item class types as shown in the following table:
Content integration server function | Document libraries | Lists | Discussion boards |
---|---|---|---|
Read and Query | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Enterprise search crawler | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Browse | Yes. Each document library displays as a top-level folder. | Yes. Each list displays as a top-level folder. | Yes. Each discussion board displays as a top-level folder. |
Create, update, delete | Yes | No | No |
Each area of functionality indicated as not being supported can cause an error message to be returned if a client attempts to use the functionality.
To reflect Windows SharePoint Services repository behavior, if an item is checked out native content can be modified but properties cannot. If an item is not checked out, both native content and properties can be modified.
A Windows SharePoint Services list item can include multiple attachments. To the Windows SharePoint Services connector, each attachment is treated as a separate page of a multi-page content item. SharePoint attachments cannot be versioned.
In the Windows SharePoint Services repository, MIME type information is not stored for previous versions of a document. The MIME type of all versions of a document is assumed to be the same as the MIME type of the current version.
The connector is provided with a preset list of MIME types. The MIME types are accessible in the administration tool as custom connector properties.
The Windows SharePoint Services connector supports native content retrieval and upload using streams as long as the connector and the repository are on the same computer.
