Queue sweeps

Content Platform Engine uses the following queue sweeps for advanced storage areas:

  • Abandoned content deletion sweep: Content requests that cannot be processed successfully remain in a queue for any of the following reasons: content is either abandoned by a client during upload, content is abandoned by the system during a failed move content operation, or content is not needed by the system due to deduplication. The sweep deletes the abandoned content from all storage devices, also referred to as replicas.
  • Content deletion sweep: Requests to delete content are placed in a queue. The sweep deletes the specified content from all replicas.
  • Content replication sweep: Content that is not synchronously uploaded to a replica is asynchronously uploaded. Upload requests are placed in the replication queue, and the sweep initiates uploads to replicas.

A single set of queue sweeps services all of the advanced storage areas set on an object store. When you create an advanced storage area, Content Platform Engine automatically creates the queue sweeps. A queue sweep runs continuously as a background task, but you can define time periods that specify when processing of sweep requests occurs. You can disable queue sweeps, set other properties, and monitor sweep results.
