Configuring user authentication

Users authentication can be on Maximo® Asset Management or on the application server. If you plan to use light-weight directory protocol (LDAP) security to manage users on a directory server, authentication must be on the application server. You select which authentication service to use during installation but you can manually change the authentication service later.

If you are using LDAP security, you must configure the directory server and the application server for LDAP security . To configure LDAP security on IBM® Tivoli® Directory Server, Microsoft Active Directory, and WebSphere® Application Server, review the information for Configuring LDAP on IBM developerWorks. To configure WebSphere Application Server, refer to the product documentation on IBM Knowledge Center. To configure Oracle WebLogic Server, refer to the documentation provided by Oracle.
