Creating an Oracle database for IBM Content Navigator

You must point to an existing AL32UTF8 database when you configure and deploy IBM Content Navigator. You can reuse an existing AL32UTF8 database or you can create an Oracle database where you can create the IBM Content Navigator configuration table after you configure and deploy the web application. However, it is assumed that you will reuse an existing database instance when you configure and deploy IBM Content Navigator.

Before you begin

It is recommended that you complete the Worksheet for creating the data source and updating the database script for your Oracle database before you configure your database for IBM Content Navigator.

You must create a user with Connect permissions on your database instance that IBM Content Navigator can use when you run the task to update the database script for your environment. The IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool uses this user to connect to the database.

This prerequisite task applies for traditional application server deployments only. For container deployments, the worksheet preparation steps do not apply.
