Deploying IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office to client machines
To integrate IBM Content Navigator features, like searching, browsing, and checking documents in and out of the repository, with Microsoft Office applications, IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office must be installed on client machines.
Before you begin
Before you deploy IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office to your users, ensure that the client machines have the required software installed. For more information, see Prerequisites for installing IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office.
The version of IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office cannot be newer than the version of IBM Content Navigator. If the versions are different, the version of IBM Content Navigator can be only one version higher than the version of IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office. IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office supports the SAML SSO methodology in an on premises environment.
- When using SPNEGO/Kerberos, there is no additional configuration required.
- When using SAML, check the Use Single Sign On checkbox on the IBM Content Navigator for
Microsoft Office login window, or add
UseSSO=true
to the configuration.ini file. A window prompting the user to log in will be displayed when required. - IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office supports basic authentication, there is no configuration required. Users will be promted to enter their credentials when required.
About this task
IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office is an optional component. If you want to deploy IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office to client machines, you must copy the component from the IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office CD or download the component from Passport Advantage®.
To deploy IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office to client machines, you can either create a silent installation that you deploy to the client machines or you can deploy the installation program to the client machines and have your users install the software interactively.
- Push a silent installation of IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office to your client machines
- Create a batch executable file that includes the silent installation command and instruct your users to download the executable file from a URL
- Instruct your users to download the IBM Content Navigator for Microsoft Office installation program and provide them with the information that they need to connect to IBM Content Navigator
Complete the appropriate task for your environment:
