Installing Reporting Services by using silent mode
Silent installation, also known as unattended
installation, uses a response file to automate the installation process.
No user interaction is required.
Before you begin
- Review your target environment to ensure that it meets the hardware and software requirements for Jazz™ for Service Management and its related software. See Hardware and software requirements.
- Decide whether to install as a root user or non-root user, see Installing as a root user or non-root user.
- Download and extract the platform-specific installation media for the following software: Jazz for Service Management, IBM® WebSphere® Application Server, Reporting Services, IBM DB2® Enterprise Server Edition if not already installed and download the TCRCognos image:3.1.3.0-TIV-JazzSM-TCR-COGNOS-<platform>.tar.gz along with media file downloads. See Setting up a local file system for a custom installation.

- In a two-server installation, ensure that you have set up the
following components:
- On the database server, ensure that you have created the Cognos Content Store. See Silently creating the Cognos Content Store or Creating the Cognos Content Store from the command line.
- On the application server, ensure that you have silently installed
the application serving environment for Reporting Services.
See Silently installing the Reporting Services.Note: To install Reporting Services application serving environment only, ensure that you exclude keys related to Cognos Content Store in the install_jazzsm_was_fullprofile_response.xml file.
- On the application server, ensure that you have installed the DB2 data server client, so that it can connect to the DB2 database on the database server. See Installing IBM Data Server drivers and clients in the IBM DB2 Information Center for Linux, UNIX, and Windows.
