This section includes the new features and functionality included in IBM® Db2® Data Management Console v3.1.4.

Monitoring

  • Added support for new monitor KPI - Logging performance, which reveals the performance information about the transaction logging subsystem for the currently connected database.
  • Users can now view the health status of IBM Db2 Data Management Console.

Global navigation enhancement

  • Unified the navigation UI and experience with console for IBM Db2 on Cloud and IBM Db2 Warehouse on Cloud.
  • Restructured Settings menu by grouping the more frequently used functions under Administration and less frequently used function under Settings.
  • Displayed the total number of alerts (Critical + Warning) instead of the new flag on the Notification icon in the product header.
  • Enabled idle timeout on UI to automatically logout the UI, when there is no user activity for thirty minutes.

Configuration alert

In the Monitoring profile > Alerts settings page, updated the Configuration alerts description with additional information on the parameters and rules that trigger the alerts thereby helping the user to understand the context before deciding to enable them.

DDL generation enhancement

Added support for Generate DDL function based on Db2 store procedure for the following database object types:
  • Tables
  • Views
  • Indexes
  • Alias
  • MQTs
  • Schemas

Db2u on RHOS / Db2u on CPD / IIAS support

Added support for Db2 for Red Hat® OpenShift®, Db2 and Db2 Warehouse for IBM Cloud Pak® for Data, and Db2 for IBM Integrated Analytics System. Users can now add connection profiles with Db2 on the above platforms with the connection type as IBM Db2 , perform database monitoring, explore data, run SQL, manage jobs and create reports.

Auto-start console on Windows operating system

Added support for installing Windows service by default. Users can now enable or disable Windows services for IBM Db2 Data Management Console. By using Windows Service, users can control the automatic start, start, stop and other actions of the console.

Use multiple sequential event monitors to avoid data loss

Enhanced performance for collecting statement individual executions with the activity event monitor.

Explorer support for table spaces

Added support for table spaces management. Users can now use the Data > Storage objects > Table spaces page to manage database table spaces.

Event monitor enhancement

The Summary > Responsiveness widget (statistics event monitor) and Individual executions (activity event monitor) pages now support workload level enablement/disablement including Db2 system workloads and user-defined workloads. The administrator can now configure event monitors for a specific workload.

Status check script enhancement

Improved the Db2 Data Management console status check script status.sh to check the application status on non-Windows platforms.

WLM support

Added WLM support for Db2 11.5 and above versions. The console collects WLM related metrics from statistics event monitor and persists data into repository. Workloads will not be automatically turned on for statistics event monitor. The user must alter the workloads to be collected for statistics event monitor manually. The logic groups include SUPERCLASSSTATS, SCMETRICS, WLSTATS, WLMETRICS, SCSTATS, SUPERCLASSMETRICS, OSMETRICS, and QSTATS.

Enhancement to dmctop

Made the following fixes and enhancements to dmctop v1.0.2.0 to improve performance and usability:

  • Db2 on Cloud and Db2 Warehouse on Cloud connection support.
  • HADR TUI enhancement, real time delta/counter mode switching, and resetting preferences.
  • Table enhancement - option to re-order columns and fix columns.
  • Set the refresh interval after starting the tool.
  • Fixed sorting issue.
