Version 3.1.2

This section includes the new features and functionality included in IBM® Db2® Data Management Console v3.1.2.

Db2 pureScale® support

IBM Db2 Data Management console is now equipped to monitor pureScale clustered configurations. If a connection is a Db2 pureScale member, in addition to the monitoring metrics supported for a normal database the following pureScale related metrics are supported:
  • Db2 pureScale status
  • Db2 pureScale member performance
  • Db2 pureScale CF summary

Added event monitoring support for pureScale member connections.

Introduced the following pureScale alerts under Availability and Performance category:
  • Cluster caching facility status - Monitors the status of the cluster caching facility. The status CF_NOT_FOUND indicates that no cluster caching facility was detected by the system.
    • Critical Threshold: STOPPED, ERROR, CF_NOT_FOUND
    • Warning Threshold: RESTARTING, CATCHUP
  • Cluster host status - Monitors the status of cluster host
    • Critical Threshold: INACTIVE
  • pureScale member status - Monitors the status of pureScale members
    • Critical Threshold: STOPPED, ERROR
    • Warning Threshold: RESTARTING, WAITING_FOR_FAILBACK
  • Group buffer pool hit ratio -The percentage of data, index and XML data pages that were attempted to be read in the group buffer pool because valid copies were not found in the local buffer pool.
  • Total page reclaims per min - Monitors the total number of times a page was reclaimed by another member.
  • Virtual memory in use in CF system -The percentage of real memory and swap memory being used in a CF system.

Db2WHoC and Db2oC connection support

IBM Db2 Data Management console now supports Db2 Warehouse on Cloud and Db2 on Cloud databases. You can monitor performance, administer databases, set alerts and optimize the database environment for Db2WHoC and Db2oC connections.

To add Db2WHoC and Db2oC connections in the console, user must provide the data collection credential of bluadmin role. Also, Db2WHoC and Db2oC databases can only be added as a monitor database and cannot be used as a repository database in the Db2 Data Management Console.

Docker container deployment

IBM Db2 Data Management Console can now be deployed as a docker container to get you up and running with the console quickly and easily. Docker container provides you with a virtualized run-time environment to run your console, without impacting your existing operating system.

LDAP authentication

LDAP authentication now supports Microsoft Active Directory through LDAP v3 protocol. (Supports authentication with password only).

Event monitoring enhancement

Added a new console page Event monitor profile under settings. This page displays the status of event monitors (Activity, Locking, Utility, and Statistics) for a database connection. Depending on the event monitor profile setting, the status is displayed as On/Off/Warning.

You can also set up all the four types of event monitors from the Event monitor profile page.

Statistics event monitor enhancement

Added a console page Stats event monitor opt-in that allows users to turn on/off statistics event monitor which collects responsiveness data for displaying in the monitor Summary page.

Upgrade

Added support for upgrading IBM Data Server Manager to IBM Db2 Data Management Console on a Windows platform.

Configuring log file location support

Added support to redirect the log and cache information to a new directory location.

Monitoring Utility (dmctop) support

The monitoring utility dmctop is a simple text-based tool for monitoring Db2 v11.1 and above on Linux® and Windows, similar to dsmtop. For more information, see dmctop.

Enhancement to Alerts

Introduced a new configuration-based alert that can be configured from the Alerts Settings in the Monitor profile page. Db2 applications configured with Kerberos support can now generate these configuration based alerts.
