Upgrading hardware

There are different methods available for upgrading from an older appliance to an M2003 appliance, or for replacing a failed M2003 appliance in a high availability (HA) or disaster recovery (DR) configuration.

If you are upgrading from an M2001 appliance to an M2003 appliance, you must use the back up and restore method. You use the back up commands to create an archive and then restore the archive to your new hardware. This method requires you to stop each queue manager for a short period (an hour or so depending on size of the queue manager being relocated). This method can be used for standalone or for HA and DR configurations.

If you are upgrading from M2002 appliances in an HA, DR, or HA/DR configuration to M2003 appliances, you can use the steps described in Replacing a failed appliance.
