Replacing the rear SAS cable in the 9009-41A, 9009-41G, 9009-42A, 9009-42G, 9223-42H, or 9223-42S system

To replace the rear SAS cable in the system, complete the steps in this procedure.

Procedure

  1. Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap on and that the ESD clip is plugged into a ground jack or connected to an unpainted metal surface. If not, do so now.
  2. Replace the rear SAS cable adapter (A) into the PCI adapter slot P1-C6. Close the PCI adapter retainer latch (B), as shown in Figure 1.

  3. Route the rear SAS cables through the bulkhead as shown in Figure 2.

  4. Using your labels, plug the topmost, longer rear SAS cable (A) into the rear SAS connector of the RAID adapter in position P1-C50 as shown in Figure 3.

  5. Using your label, plug the remaining shorter rear SAS cable into the rear SAS connector of the RAID adapter in position P1-C49.
  6. For a rack-mounted system, replace the air baffle (A) straight down into the chassis as shown in Figure 4.
    For a stand-alone system, replace the air baffle (A) straight into the side of the chassis as shown in Figure 5.

    Ensure that the front flap tucks under the front chassis.
