Managing partitions by using the Integrated Virtualization Manager
You can use the partition management tasks of the Integrated Virtualization Manager to create and manage the partitions on your managed system.
- Activating partitions
You can use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to activate partitions on the managed system. - Adding a client partition to the partition workload group
You can use a workload management tool to manage resources that your partitions use. To do so, you must use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to add the client partition to the partition workload group. - Deleting partitions
You can use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to delete partitions from the managed system. - Dynamically managing memory
You can use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to change the amount of memory that a running partition uses. - Dynamically managing physical adapters
You can use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to change the physical adapters that a running partition uses. - Dynamically managing processing power
You can use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to change the processing power assigned to a running partition. - Modifying partition properties
You can use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to view and modify the properties of the partitions on your managed system. - Managing memory properties for shared memory partitions
You can use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to manage memory attributes for partitions that use shared memory. - Migrating a client partition to another managed system
You can use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to migrate an inactive or a running client partition to another system managed by another Integrated Virtualization Manager. - Opening a virtual terminal session for a partition
You can use the virtual terminal on the Integrated Virtualization Manager to connect to a logical partition. - Shutting down partitions
You can use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to shut down the partitions or to shut down the entire managed system. - Using the operator panel service functions
You can use the operator panel service functions in the Integrated Virtualization Manager to perform a number of service and maintenance tasks. These tasks include shutting down, restarting, or initiating a system memory dump on partitions. These functions are also known as control panel functions. - Viewing or modifying the status of a migrating partition
You can use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to view the status, to stop, or to recover the migration of a logical partition, whether the partition is migrating to this managed system or to another managed system. - Viewing partition reference codes
You can use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to display reference codes for the partitions on your managed system. Reference codes provide general system diagnostic, troubleshooting, and debugging information.
