Deleting a namespace for an NVMe device
Use stand-alone diagnostics to delete a namespace for an NVMe device.
For system and stand-alone diagnostic requirements, see Secure data deletion for devices by using stand-alone diagnostics.
- If you have already booted the system from stand-alone diagnostics and entered the terminal type, go to step 8.
- Power off the system. For instructions, see Stopping a system.
- Boot the system from stand-alone diagnostics. For information about running stand-alone diagnostics, see Running the stand-alone hardware diagnostics.
- From the Welcome to AIX screen, type 1 to select the terminal that you are using as the system console.
- From the Diagnostics Operating Instructions menu, press Enter to continue.
- From the Function Selection menu, type 3 to select Task Selection.
- From the Define Terminal menu, enter a terminal type. Note: If you are using a remote terminal connection such as PuTTY, use either the VT320 or VT340 terminal emulation.
- From the Task Selection List, select the NVMe Manager option.
- From the NVMe Manager screen, select the Namespace Management and Attachment option.
- From the Namespace Management and Attachment screen, select the Delete a Namespace option.
- From the Namespace Management Supported Controllers window, select the device for which you want to delete a namespace.
- From the Delete a Namespace screen, press F4 (function
key 4) to display the NVMe Disk or Namespace Identifier for the selected
device. Note: If you receive an error message indicating that there are no items of this type, there are no namespaces to delete.
- From the NVMe Disk or Namespace Identifier window, select the NVMe Disk or Namespace Identifier to delete.
- From the Delete a Namespace screen, press Enter to delete the selected NVMe Disk or Namespace Identifier.
- From the ARE YOU SURE screen, press Enter to continue.
- From the COMMAND STATUS screen, press F3 (function key 3) to return to the Delete a Namespace screen.
- To delete more namespaces, repeat steps 12 through 16. To delete all namespaces, repeat steps 12 through 16 until there are no more namespaces to delete in step 12.
