Remove the model 285, 52x, 55x, or 720 RAID enablement card

You might need to remove a Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) enablement card from the server. Use the procedure in this section to perform this task.

Prepare the system

Perform prerequisite tasks as described in Before you begin.
Identify the RAID enablement card that you need to remove. For instructions, see Identify a failing part.
Stop the system. For instructions, see Stop the system or logical partition.
Disconnect the power source from the system by unplugging the system.
Note: This system might be equipped with a second power supply. Before continuing with this procedure, ensure that all power sources to the system have been completely disconnected.
Remove the front cover. For instructions, see Remove the front cover from the model 285, 52x, 55x, OpenPower 720, or the 0595 expansion unit.

Remove the RAID enablement card

Locate the RAID enablement card. The RAID enablement card is located below the disk drives.
Pull out on the locking knobs of the RAID enablement card until you feel them unlock.
Slide the RAID enablement card out of the system, as shown in Figure 1 or Figure 2.
