Removing a power supply from the 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system with the power turned off
To remove a power supply from the 8408-44E or 8408-E8E system, complete the steps in this procedure.
Procedure
- Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap attached. If not, attach it now.
- Label and disconnect the power cord from the power supply. Attention: Do not remove the power cord from the cable-management arm.
- Label the power cord, and then unstrap the hook-and-loop fastener to release the power cord from the power supply handle. Refer to (D) in Figure 1 (8408-44E) or Figure 2 (8408-E8E).
- Pull the end of the power cord (A) out of the power supply (C) in the direction that is shown in Figure 1 (8408-44E) or Figure 2 (8408-E8E).
- Retain the hook-and-loop fastener for future use.

- To unseat the power supply from its position in the system, push the terracotta locking-tab (B) in the direction shown in Figure 1 (8408-44E) or Figure 2 (8408-E8E).
- Pull the power supply (C) away from the system, as shown in Figure 1 (8408-44E) or Figure 2 (8408-E8E).
