Error description

  • You upgrade to a 32-bit version of 11.50.xC6 from a previous
    32-bit version of 11.50 or
    you upgrade to a 64-bit version of 11.50.xC6 from a previous
    64-bit version of 11.50.

    You run a query involving the sysmaster table sysptnhdr or view
    systabinfo. This leads to various forms of memory corruption
    causing assertion failures with stack traces similar to these:

Local fix

  • 1. Make sure no users are connected to the sysmaster database
    while rebuilding sysmaster database.
    2. Force a rebuild of the sysmaster database by running one of
    these commands as user informix:
    on UNIX or Linux run $INFORMIXDIR/etc/buildsmi
    on Windows run %INFORMIXDIR%\etc\buildsmi.bat

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * The sysmaster database is not rebuilt during the upgrade *
    * process. A query involving the sysmaster table sysptnhdr or *
    * view systabinfo causes various types of memory corruption *
    * causing assertion failures.                                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Upgrade to 11.50.xC6W1 or higher.                            *
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • This problem is first fixed in 11.50.xC6W1.

Temporary fix

Comments

  • If you already upgraded to 11.50.xC6 and are now upgrading to
    11.50.xC6W1 then you still have to rebuild the sysmaster
    database using the steps in the Local Fix above.
