My name is Michael Maximilien, better known as max or dr.max, and I am a Distinguished Engineer and computer scientist with IBM having worked with various divisions. I hold master’s and Ph.D. degrees in computer science.
At IBM Research Triangle Park, I was a principal engineer for the worldwide industry point-of-sale standard: JavaPOS.
At IBM Research, I was a research scientist and did pioneering research on: semantic Web services and APIs, mashups, social network privacy, cloud computing, as well as platform-as-a-service.
I joined the IBM Open Technology division in 2014 as Chief Architect for Cloud Innovations. I am currently Distinguished Engineer responsible for open serverless cloud native computing (e.g., Knative, Kubernetes) with responsibilities that include fostering the IBM / Red Hat cloud native ecosystem with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) partners.
My main expertise are in the areas of software engineering and distributed systems. I have published over 75 refereed papers with citations count on GoogleScholar over 6000 and I hold 21 issued US patents. I am an avid photographer and amateur triathlete with bragging rights having completed one full Ironman, more than 10 half Ironman, and more than 20 marathons.
