Removing and replacing the disk drive backplane

Use this procedure to remove, replace, or install the disk drive backplane in the IBM® Power® ESE (8412-EAD), the IBM Power 770 (9117-MMB, 9117-MMC, or 9117-MMD), and the IBM Power 780 (9179-MHB, 9179-MHC, or 9179-MHD) servers.

Figure 1 shows the 8412-EAD, 9117-MMB, 9117-MMC, 9117-MMD, 9179-MHB, 9179-MHC, or 9179-MHD disk drive backplane.
