Learn how to add an input/output (I/O) expansion unit to
the system and verify that it is functioning.
You might be able to add an I/O expansion unit to your
system with the system powered on and logical partitions active. You
can add an I/O expansion unit with the system powered on and logical
partitions active if your configuration meets one of the following
requirements:
- Your system is managed by an IBM Hardware Management Console (HMC).
- Your system is not managed by an HMC, but has only one partition,
and that partition is running the IBM® i operating system.
If your configuration does not meet any of the requirements
specified above, you must power off the system to add the I/O expansion
unit.
