Scheduling backup and recovery jobs
You can run many of the functions that are performed by BRMS under the control of a job scheduler.
For example, you can schedule daily backups to begin after nightly processing, and schedule the MOVMEDBRM or STRMNTBRM commands to run after the saves complete. You can also schedule jobs to run across networks. And, as discussed in Tailoring your backup you can also use the console monitor to schedule an unattended save.
While this topic provides some information about the IBM® Advanced Job Scheduler for i, it assumes primary use of the IBM i job scheduler. For additional information about how to use the IBM i job scheduler or the IBM Advanced Job Scheduler for i, refer to the Work management topic.
Many of the features in this topic are available in the BRMS graphical interface. For detailed information, see Using the BRMS graphical interface.
