Internet Protocol over Fibre Channel

Beginning with AIX 5L Version 5.2 with the 5200-03 Recommended Maintenance package, IP packets can be sent over a physical fibre-channel connection.

After a system is configured to use IP over Fibre Channel, its network activity will function just as if an Ethernet or Token-Ring adapter were being used.

In order to use IP over Fibre Channel, your system must have a Fibre Channel switch and either the 2 Gigabit Fibre Channel Adapter for 64-bit PCI Bus or the 2 Gigabit Fibre Channel PCI-X Adapter.
