Copy and deploy assets with Lifecycle Management in Planning Analytics Workspace

Assets such as books, views, folders, applications, and plans can be copied and deployed by an administrator from a source environment to target environment using Lifecycle Management.

If you are an administrator, you can deploy any assets that you have permission to view from a source environment to a target environment by clicking Lifecycle Management on the Administration page in IBM® Planning Analytics Workspace. An asset can be a book, view, folder, modeling workbench, application, or plan. Websheets are not supported as an asset type.

Customers on cloud are provisioned with multiple products in multiple environment. They can have a development environment and a production environment. As an administrator, you can build content in a development environment and then deploy it to your production environment when you are ready. If the target environment is available, you can deploy assets in one step. If the target environment is a IBM Planning Analytics Local instance, you can export a snapshot of assets from your source environment and import the snapshot in the target environment.

You must have at least View permission for an asset to see it in Lifecycle Management. You are not shown assets that you don't have permission to view even if they exist on your source environment.

You can also create a snapshots of assets as a backup without deploying it, so that you can restore an earlier version of your assets whenever you want.

Remember: A snapshot is a collection of assets at a single point in time. Lifecycle Management validates that the content of the snapshot that you are creating can be deployed to the target environment. When you deploy a collection of assets from the source environment to the target environment, the contents of the assets are deployed as well. If a book contains a websheet, the websheet must be deployed manually.
