Monitoring dataset groups summary data

This topic describes the workspaces that monitor the status of Dataset Group Summary data. You access these workspaces through the Dataset Group Summary node in the Tivoli® Enterprise Portal.

In addition, with OMEGAMON for Storage on z/OS Version 4.2.0 Interim Feature 3 or later, you can issue dataset-level Storage Toolkit commands from the dataset group level. To access these commands, open the Dataset Group Summary workspace from the Navigator, right-click a row on the table view and select the Dataset Actions... menu item, then select the action you want to perform.

Dataset Group Summary workspace

This topic describes the main components of the principal workspace for this node.

The following sections describe various components of this workspace.

Views
This workspace provides the following views. For a description of the attributes used as column headings in the workspace table view, review the attribute group definitions for this workspace in the online help. The help resource includes attribute descriptions that are displayed when you hover with the mouse pointer over a column heading.
Dataset group space utilization graph
This graph displays total free space and group total used space information for each data set group.
Dataset group summary table view
The tabular portion covering the entire width of the workspace at the bottom of the screen displays one row of data for each defined data set group. The rows contain:
  • The data set group name
  • The total number of data sets
  • The data set with the largest allocation
  • The largest space allocation
  • The data set with the largest free space
  • The largest space free
  • The data set with the oldest referenced date within the group
  • The oldest referenced date for the identified data set within the group
  • The data set with the worst MSR within the group, and the highest MSR of the data set
  • The total used space for all of the data sets within the group
  • The total number of I/Os for all the active data sets within the group
  • The total average MSR for all the active data sets within the group
  • The data set group used space percentage
  • The total allocated space for all the data sets within the group
  • The data set group percentage of free space
  • The total free space for all the data sets within the group
Dataset group RLS summary table view
The tabular portion covering the entire width of the workspace at the bottom of the screen displays one row of data for each defined data set group. The rows contain:
  • The name of the dataset group.
  • The maximum response time for any dataset in the group in .01 milliseconds.
  • The maximum average response time for all direct access requests in .01 milliseconds for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum average response time for all sequential access requests in .01 milliseconds for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum percent of BMF false invalid requests for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex in tenths of a percent.
  • The maximum number of BMF false invalid requests for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum number of BMF false invalid requests per minute in hundredths for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum number of BMF requests for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum number of BMF requests per minute in hundredths for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum number of control area splits for any dataset in the group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum percent of write requests that caused a control area split for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex in tenths of a percent.
  • The maximum number of control area splits per minute in hundredths for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum number of control interval splits for any dataset in the group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum percent of write requests that caused a control interval split for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex in tenths of a percent.
  • The maximum number of control interval splits per minute in hundredths for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum number of Data Insert Work Area (DIWA) lock requests per minute in hundredths for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum percent of write requests that had Data Insert Work Area (DIWA) lock requests for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex in tenths of a percent.
  • The maximum number of Data Insert Work Area (DIWA) lock requests for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum percent of write requests that had ESDS add to end lock requests for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex in tenths of a percent.
  • The maximum number of lock requests in contention per minute in hundredths for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum percent of lock requests in contention for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex in tenths of a percent.
  • The maximum number of read requests for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex.
  • The maximum number of read requests per minute in hundredths for any dataset in the dataset group across the sysplex.
