Monitoring CA 1 status

This section summarizes the workspace links that are available through the Navigator node. Depending on your monitoring goal, you follow a specific series of links to get detailed information about storage resources. Views

This workspace provides the following views. For a description of the attributes used as column headings in the workspace table view, review the attribute group definitions for this workspace in the online help. The help resource includes attribute descriptions that are displayed when you hover with the mouse pointer over a column heading.

CA 1 Scratch Volumes pie graph

This graph shows the number of total volumes and total scratch volumes.

CA 1 DSNB Allocation pie graph

This graph shows the number of total DSNB allocations and the active DSNBs.

CA 1 Volume Utilization bar graph

This graph contains shows the volume utilization. The height of each bar represents the percentage utilized range (for example, utilization between 21% and 30%).

CA 1 System Summary table view

This table contains a single row that summarizes performance information for the CA1 tape management system, and contains the following attributes. Notice that many of these same attributes are shown on the linked-to Summary workspaces described below. In those cases the attribute values are relative to the specific object that you are summarizing (for example, a location, an owner, a creating job, and so on). The attribute values are not relative to the entire CA 1 environment:

• Average Compression Ratio - Average compression ratio.
• Average Datasets Per Volume - Average number of data sets per volume.
• Average Dataset Size - Average dataset size expressed in megabytes to 1 decimal place.
• Average Dataset Usage Percent - Average dataset usage percent.
• Average Volume Open Count - Average number of times tape opened since birth date.
• Average Volume Usage Percent - Average volume usage percent.
• Collection End Time - End time of data collection.
• Collection Start Time - Start time of data collection.
• Collection Status - Status of the data collector.
• Managed System - The SMS name of this system.
• Perm Read Errors Since Clean - Number of permanent read errors since clean.
• Perm Read Errors Since Init - Number of permanent read errors since initialization.
• Perm Write Errors Since Clean - Number of permanent write errors since clean.
• Perm Write Errors Since Init - Number of permanent write errors since initialization.
• Temp Read Errors Since Clean - Number of temporary read errors since clean.
• Temp Read Errors Since Init - Number of temporary read errors since initialization.
• Temp Write Errors Since Clean - Number of temporary write errors since clean.
• Temp Write Errors Since Init - Number of temporary write errors since initialization.
• Total Datasets - Total number of data sets.
• Total Errors - Total number of errors.
• Total New Scratch Volumes - Total number of new (uninitialized) scratch volumes.
• Total Perm Errors - Total number of permanent errors (since init or clean).
• Total Perm Write Errors - Total number of permanent write errors (since init or clean).
• Total Perm Read Errors - Total number of permanent read errors (since init or clean).
• Total RDS Override Volumes - Total volumes eligible for RDS Override.
• Total Scratch Volumes - Total number of scratch volumes.

• Total Usage - The amount of uncompressed data written to the tape, expressed as GB.

• Total Vol Perm Write Errors - Total number of volumes with permanent write errors (since init or clean).

• Total Vol Temp Write Errors - Total number of volumes with temporary write errors (since init or clean).

• Total Volumes Closed by ABEND - Total volumes closed by ABEND.
• Total Volumes Closed Normally - Total volumes closed normally.
• Total Volumes in Delete Status - Total volumes in delete status.
• Total Volumes To Be Cleaned - Total volumes listed to be cleaned.
• Vol Perm Read Errors Since Clean - Number of volumes with permanent read errors since clean.

• Volume 31-40% Utilized - Number of volumes being utilized 31-40%.
• Volume 41-50% Utilized - Number of volumes being utilized 41-50%.
• Volume 51-60% Utilized - Number of volumes being utilized 51-60%.
• Volume 61-70% Utilized - Number of volumes being utilized 61-70%.
• Volume 71-80% Utilized - Number of volumes being utilized 71-80%.
• Volume 81-90% Utilized - Number of volumes being utilized 81-90%.

This table contains a single row that provides configuration and control information for the CA1 tape management system. • First Audit Record Since Last Backup - First audit record since last backup.
• First DSNB Offset - Relative address of the first DSNB record.
• First Volume Definition Offset - Relative address of the first volume definition record.
• Last TMC Backup - Time of last TMC backup. TMC Backup
• Managed System - The SMS name of this system.
• New TMC VOLSER - VOLSER of the new backup tape.
• Next Audit Offset - Relative address of the next available audit record.
• Next Free DSNB Offset - Relative address of the next free DSNB record.
• Number of Active DSNB Records - Total number of DSNB records currently in use.
• Number of Audit Records Generated - Number of audit records generated.
• Number of Formatted DSNB Records - Total number of formatted (ready to use) DSNB records.
• Number of Volume Definition Records - Number of volume definition records.
• TMC Backup DSN - DSN of last backup tape.
• TMC Backup Indicator - TMC backup indicator.
• TMSEXTEND Indicator - TMS EXTEND audit flag.
• VOLSER - VOLSER of last backup tape.
