If your system is managed by the Hardware Management Console (HMC), use the HMC to complete the steps for replacing the disk drive backplane in the server. For instructions, see Exchanging a part using the Hardware Management Console.

If you do not have an HMC, complete the following steps to replace the disk drive backplane:

  1. Complete the prerequisite tasks described in Before you begin.
  2. Install the disk drive backplane by performing the following steps:
    1. With the handles (A) in the fully extended position, align the disk drive backplane with the enclosure slot.
    2. Slide the disk drive backplane into the enclosure until it stops, and then rotate the handles in the direction shown to lock them in place.
