The OID used to poll the Watson Explorer Engine SNMP agent has the following structure:
.1.3.6.1.4.1.33459.{install-dir-code}.{status-path}.{extra}
- install-dir-code - This variable depends on the installation directory of your
local installation of Watson Explorer Engine. If you have multiple installations of Watson Explorer Engine, the install-dir-code will be different for each installation
directory.
- status-path - This variable denotes the type of status for which you want more
information. The available types are:
- Search Collection status
- Dictionary status
- Services status (Scheduler, Alerts, Reporting, Source Test, Query Service)
- Misc (Repository, Users)
- extra - This string refers to the numerical representation of the search
collection or dictionary name and is derived from the length of the name of the
collection/dictionary and the ASCII decimal value of each character.
To determine the OID structure for your Watson Explorer Engine
installation, you can run the snmp-config application in the repository
to generate the OID for you. The snmp-config app can be accessed through
a browser by going to a URL of the form
http://HOST/vivisimo/cgi-bin/velocity?v.app=snmp-config.
The snmp-config app has two function:
- snmp-mib-create - produces a MIB
- snmp-config - produces a configuration that can be used with your
network monitoring tool, such as Nagios or MRTG, to monitor Watson Explorer Engine.
Note: For Windows-based Watson Explorer Engine
installations, access the snmp-config app through a browser by going to
the URL velocity.exe?v.app=snmp-config.
The following section provides more information on the OID structure for currently
available status requests.
