Champion challenger overview

By using IBM® SPSS® Deployment Manager, it is possible to compare model files generated by IBM SPSS Modeler to determine which file contains the most effective predictive model. The champion challenger job step evaluates a model and compares it to one or more challengers.

After the system compares the results, the best model becomes the new champion.

Champion. The champion corresponds to the most effective model. For the initial execution of the champion challenger job step, there is no champion--only the first challenger and the corresponding list of challengers. For subsequent executions of the job step, the system determines the champion.

Challenger. Challengers are compared against each other. The challenger that generates the best results then becomes the new champion.

Champion Selection Process

The champion challenger comparison process consists of the following tasks:

1. Scoring each of the competing models.
2. Evaluating the resulting scores.
3. Comparing the evaluation results and determining which challenger is the champion.
4. Saving the new champion to the repository (optional).

Adding Champion Challenger Work to a Job

To add a champion challenger job step to a job, select the Champion Challenger tool from the job palette and click the job canvas.
